The June 2026 Visa Bulletin is out, and it brings sharp retrogression for India's top employment-based categories even as a few others move forward. If you are waiting on an employment-based green card, here is what changed.
India EB-1 and EB-2 Retrogress Significantly
To keep visa usage within the fiscal year 2026 annual limits, the State Department pulled back India's cutoff dates in its two top employment categories:
- EB-1 India retrogressed roughly three and a half months to December 15, 2022.
- EB-2 India retrogressed roughly ten and a half months to September 1, 2013.
Both categories remain available with a cutoff date for June, but only applicants with priority dates before those cutoffs can move forward. The bulletin warned that further retrogression, or categories becoming "unavailable," may be necessary in the months ahead. That warning proved accurate in July.
For India-born applicants in the EB-2 category, this is a meaningful setback and a reminder of how demand-driven these dates have become.
Some Categories Still Moved Forward
It was not all retrogression:
- EB-3 China advanced about six weeks to August 1, 2021.
- EB-3 India advanced about one month to December 15, 2013.
- China EB-1 and EB-2 held steady at April 1, 2023 and September 1, 2021.
On the family-sponsored side, the F2A category (spouses and minor children of green card holders) jumped roughly five months in the Final Action Dates chart to January 1, 2025, and stayed current on the Dates for Filing chart.
Which Chart Applies in June?
USCIS confirmed the charts that adjustment-of-status applicants must use this month:
- Employment-based filings must use the Final Action Dates chart.
- Family-sponsored filings may use the more generous Dates for Filing chart.
Using the wrong chart is one of the most common reasons an adjustment application is rejected, so confirm your category before filing.

What Should You Do This Week?
- India EB-1 and EB-2 applicants: check your priority date against the new, earlier cutoffs before assuming you can file.
- EB-3 China and India applicants: you may have gained ground, so verify whether you are now current.
- F2A families: the category advanced substantially, and this may be your window to file.
- All adjustment applicants: use the correct chart, which is Final Action Dates for employment-based and Dates for Filing for family-sponsored.
