A large number of U.S. consulates have been closed during the Coronavirus/COVID-19 crisis. If you are confused about whether you will be able to get an appointment to have your visa stamped at a consulate, watch the video for all the details, including the current status of travel into the U.S. from Canada and Mexico after the suspension of routine visa services announcement.

We have heard news direct from some of our clients about which U.S. Consulates are now open. Some have been able to get consulate appointments in Japan, New Zealand, and also the Netherlands. Wuhan in China and Vietnam also have consulates that are open for appointments.

To get a U.S. visa stamped at a consulate, you will typically need to make an appointment using the form DS-160. Many visa types will require approval in advance, but others (such as B-1 business visitor visa and the B-2 pleasure visitor visa) can be obtained at the time of your visit into the United States.
