USCIS Continues to Process Application for Employment Authorization (EAD), Extension Requests (Form I-765) Amid Closures

On March 30, 2020, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services announced that due to the temporary closure of Application Support Centers (ASC) to the public in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, it would continue processing Application for Employment Authorization Extension Requests (Form I-765) by reusing previously submitted biometrics.

The move by USCIS will alleviate much stress for individuals whose EADs are to expire soon.

For applicants who have filed an I-765 extension or had an appointment scheduled with an ASC on or after the March 18 closure, their applications will be processed using the biometrics on file. This policy will remain in effect until ASCs are open for appointments to the public.
